There are lots of Rubik's Cubes around, but not much Rubik the Amazing Cube stuff. I've wrangled together a few things. Rubik Videos
From 1985 to 1987 nine Rubik episodes were put together in three volumes on VHS tape. You can still find 'em in a few places. Mine were apparently part of a video rental library - a now non-existent chain called Video Update. We used to rent tapes there a lot, so it's funny that I ended up with these. Volume 1 | Volume 2 | Volume 3 Rubik Cels
I've gotten hold of a few production model cels from the Rubik shows. These were used as keys for the animators to keep the characters on model and keep the colors consistent. I suppose that some of these are unique, while others - like main characters - were probably produced in multiples since I imagine several animators were working on the same characters all at one time. Of course my favorite is the main model of Rubik signed by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears. These hold poses are used numerous times in the show, including the title sequence.
The Rubik Rubik's CubeI know this cube is real, only because I have a photo of it. I'm sure a few of these are around too. But who knows where? Let me know if you can help me find one. This picture is courtesy of www.PuzzleProz.com.
My RubiksI've made a few Rubiky things of my own including the soft toy version and a couple t-shirts. I've also done a ton of Rubik Art - old and new. I started that when I was 10, took a long break and have drawn quite a few Rubiks recently, including the one on the website logo. More and better ones are on the way. |
